Marello Leadership Award winners announced for 2012 for youth and young adult ministry
The Marello Leadership Award winners for 2012 have been announced by the Diocese of Sacramento.
Juan Carlos Paredes is the winner of the "Innovation in Youth or Young Adult Ministry" award, for his "Young Soul" talk show on Radio Santisimo Sacramento. Receiving the Excellence in Youth Ministry award is the St. Joseph Marello Parish (in Granite Bay) Edge and Life Teen Program, with coordinators Dan and Lisa Nollette and Patrick and Mary Maguire. Receiving the Excellence in Youth Ministry Award is the youth ministry at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish (in Fairfield), with coordinators Ryan and Danielle Ramirez.
Named for St. Joseph Marello and presented as a partnership program between the Diocese of Sacramento and the Marello Youth Retreat Center in Loomis, these special accolades strive to recognize exemplary youth and young adult leaders and programs.
The 2012 awards will be presented at the 10th Anniversary Gala event for Marello Youth Retreat Center on Oct. 20. Presenting the awards will be Bishop Emeritus William K. Weigand and Kevin Staszkow, director of the diocese's Department of Evangelization and Catechesis. Appropriately, the event theme is “Anchored Firmly,” an important dual significance as these awards go to individuals and programs who aim to "anchor" youth and young adults firmly in their faith.
