July-August issue of Catholic Herald Magazine is published; theme is issues of youth, including spirituality, sexuality

The July-August issue of Catholic Herald magazine, the magazine of the Diocese of Sacramento, has been published.

The theme of the July-August issue is issues of youth, including spirituality and sexuality. The cover story is titled: “Believing in the Power of God: SEARCH retreat movement leaders pass on the faith to young adults,” featuring the personal faith stories of Catholics involved in the diocese’s SEARCH movement as it celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

Other feature stories include a feature on how parishes in the diocese are strengthening teens with chastity education, including Theology of the Body curriculum; the story of Kitzi Hendricks, a young lay missioner from the diocese who is living out her faith among the people of Bolivia; the story of teen mother, Morgan Myers, and her son, Joshua, who gained life skills to become an effective parent through the Teen Pregnancy and Parenting Program of Northern Valley Catholic Social Service; a feature on the Recollections in Christianity youth retreat apostolate; and a feature on how Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in the diocese enjoy plentiful opportunities to enrich their faith.

Bishop Jaime Soto is publisher of the magazine, which is published seven times each year and includes moving faith stories and high-quality photography about Catholics in the diocese as well as news and events of the local church. Individual faith stories are the cornerstone of Catholic Herald Magazine and columns also explore the Catholic faith and educate about the teachings of the church. To receive the magazine by donating $15 per year, call (916) 733-0266 or send an e-mail inquiry to Ctinsay@scd.org.
