Bishop to preside at Mass Oct. 24 at Polonian Pastoral Center

Bishop Jaime Soto will preside at a Mass on Sunday, Oct. 24 at noon at Our Lady of Czestochowa Polonian Cultural and Pastoral Center, located at 1601 South Ave. in Sacramento. The Mass will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the chapel and center.

Father Dariusz Malczuk, parochial vicar of Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Rocklin, currently serves as chaplain to the Polish community for the diocese, which gathers at the center for Mass, religious education and other activities.

The Polonian Cultural and Pastoral Center was co-founded in 1985 by Father Leon Juchniewicz, current pastor of St. Basil Parish in Vallejo. He organized and supported various Polish American cultural events and established a Polish library and Sunday school at the Polonian Center. Father Sylvester Kwaitkowski, current pastor of St. Patrick Parish in Grass Valley and St. Canice Parish in Nevada City, has also served previously as chaplain to the Polish Catholic Community.
