Boiler Awakening #1 Application Weekend!!!!!!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Well here we are a month into the semester and the stresses of academic life are starting to build up; countless hours of homework and studying, the challenge of maintaining a social life, and oh yeah sleep (what's that right?). So where does God fit into all of this? For many unfortunately, he seems to be slipping down the list of priorities. This is why I am writing to you all today.

This weekend, starting Friday, September 24 until Monday, September 27, leaders will be accepting applications for their first ever Awakening retreat or, Boiler Awakening #1! The theme for this retreat is "Called to Rise Above", inspired by the story of Zacchaeus in the tree.

Now I know you are all thinking, what the heck is Boiler Awakening, and why should I go on it? Well the answer is simple...because it is gonna be AWESOME! Convinced yet? If not, allow me to go into more detail. Awakening is a style of retreat that schools across the country have started to adopt that is a more energetic and powerful. It has much of the same components of our past retreat, PCE, plus more. Awakening will have praise and worship music, talks given by priests and fellow students, participation in the sacraments, community building in small groups (trust me ya'll will get close! It is one of my favorite parts about Awakening), and so much more. I went on my first Awakening retreat in July and it was incredible! Afterward I felt so uplifted and refreshed! This summer I felt like I experienced a dip in my faith because I didn't make church participation a necessary. Awakening was the jolt that I needed to lift me back up. It was the perfect way to get me ready for this year.

Boiler Awakening #1 will take place on the weekend of October 29th-31st at the A-Frame Retreat Center. As I said before, this weekend will be application weekend for Boiler Awakening #1. In order to be able to go YOU MUST FILL OUT AN APPLICATION! This can be done online at "http://www.boilercatholics.org/pcs/awakening/application" and also on paper applications this weekend following every mass and during Sunday Night Dinner. Applications will not be accepted after 5:00 PM on Monday, September 27.The cost is $45 if accepted and this will include all of your food, lodging, and charges needed for the retreat experience. We all realize that being in college means that funds are tight for some, therefore, there are many options for financial assistance if needed.

I really encourage all of you to apply for this unique experience. It is going to be a great opportunity to not only get to know fellow Catholics, but to be renewed in faith. God bless you all!
