Here's a totally novel idea for getting your parishioners registered...and it involves whether or not you should bring your cell phone to Mass.

St. Mary's Catholic Center has noticed through the years the challenge of trying to get our student population to register with us. Thus, we rolled out an initiative last year which has never been tried at any other church - at least I have never heard of another church doing something even close. We stream-lined the process this year and made it even better.

Zenit recently posted an article about Flocknote, including an interview with Flocknote Founder, Matthew Warner:

In a world where young people are perpetually texting, “tweeting” and connecting on Facebook, it can seem that the modern technology of social networking is more of a distraction than a benefit. Matthew Warner, however, sees the technology as an opportunity to reach out to youth, and to unite parishes.

That's right. No more having to wait for your parishioners or members to respond to an invitation to join. As long as you have obtained a member's email address legally (basically meaning that they gave you their email address with the understanding you were going to email them), then you can simply add it to any one of your Lists.

So, now, to get started, you just need to import your email addresses, add them to one or more of your Lists and then you're all set to start sending out information to your members!

We've just added a direct messaging feature on Flocknote!† So now you can send private messages directly to individuals and start up conversations just between you and other members.

It's set up similar to the gmail or Facebook style conversation threads for optimal communication.† We'll be adding additional control settings and preferences as we go along.† Your feedback is always welcome!
